Hello to All!

Over the past several legislative sessions in Helena there has been a group of folks working to facilitate discussions regarding statewide registration of home inspectors here in Montana. These folks have been members of all the major national home inspection associations as well as independents without affiliation.

MAREI, The Montana Association of Real Estate Inspectors, was formed from this group. Our goal has been to facilitate effective and efficient communication amongst Montana home inspectors and the inspection industry. We hope all Montana inspectors will join us to share a healthy dialogue on the issues regarding legislation and how it may effect our work.

During the last legislative session in January of 2007, we proposed legislation that included a registration process, a code of Ethics, a Standards of Practice, a proficiency examination, a minimum standard of continuing education each year, a registration fee, and a process where by errant inspectors might be held accountable. Our attempt was not passed out of committee. But we will make another attempt in January of 2009.

Simply tell us in writing or by e-mail that you wish to be included in our membership. Membership dues are $25 per year.

This web site has a bulletin board for sharing information. We also have a discussion board so that issues and topics may be discussed amongst us on line. This site also displays our membership list to facilitate communication and referrals.

Members have access to a MAREI logo for display or use in their marketing efforts.
